چکیده

Starting from the colour-matching functions measured by Stiles–Burch for a 2◦ visual field and ten individual observers, published by Trezona we have discussed certain differences between this dataset and the CIE 1931 Standard Observer. Moreover, a Standard Deviate Observer (SDO) has been developed from this dataset, loosely following the method proposed by Nayatani et al . It should be borne in mind that all the SDO previously proposed were derived from colour-matching functions measured with greater sizes of the visual field.

International Commission on Illumination R 1 - 43 Standard Deviate Observer Report

Observer metamerism was investigated in two colour matching settings. One was the classical large-field bipartite field matching with the use of narrow-band lights. The other was the cross-media setup typical for soft-proofing, with the use of reflective stimuli and two types of computer monitors. In the first experiment, five observers made repeated maximum saturation colour matches with a 6° ...

Factors underlying individual differences in the color matches of normal observers.

We have used a factor analysis of the Stiles-Burch [Opt. Acta 6, 1 (1959)] 10 degrees field color matches to examine the basis of individual differences in the color matches made by observers with normal color vision. The differences in the matches are primarily due to interobserver variations in the macular-pigment density [with a standard deviation (sigma) of 0.12 at 460 nm]; the lens-pigment...

Toward Reducing Observer Metamerism in Industrial Applications: Colorimetric Observer Categories and Observer Classification

The variability among color-normal observers poses a challenge to modern display colorimetry because of their peaky primaries. But such devices also hold the key to a future solution to this issue. In this paper, we present a method for deriving seven distinct colorimetric observer categories, and also a method for classifying individual observers as belonging to one of these seven categories. ...

Study of Observer Variability in Modern Display Colorimetry: Comparison of Cie 2006 Model and 10° Standard Observer

This paper compares CIE 2006 model predictions and the 1964 10° standard colorimetric observer with the average observer data from three distinct subgroups of 47 Stiles-Burch observers formed on the basis of observer ages. For two of these subgroups, the long-wave sensitive (x-) color matching functions obtained from the CIE 2006 model did not accurately predict the intra-group average observer...

The spectral sensitivity of the human short-wavelength sensitive cones derived from thresholds and color matches

We used two methods to estimate short-wave (S) cone spectral sensitivity. Firstly, we measured S-cone thresholds centrally and peripherally in five trichromats, and in three blue-cone monochromats, who lack functioning middle-wave (M) and long-wave (L) cones. Secondly, we analyzed standard color-matching data. Both methods yielded equivalent results, on the basis of which we propose new S-cone ...
